In 1996, Tourism Development International was retained by Shannon Development to carry out an overview of the tourism offer in the Shannon Region, with a view to identifying new product development opportunities.

Following an extensive programme of market research, the consultants identified opportunities for thedevelopment of a new golf links product. The Doonbeg Golf Resort in Co. Clare has since established itself as one of Ireland’s finest purpose - built tourism projects.
