In February 2004, Tourism Development International was appointed by Fáilte Ireland to undertake a programme of research with Ireland's festival and event organisers. The objective of the research programme was to establish the needs and challenges facing festival and event organisers.
The research programme comprised a combination of face-to-face interviews with a sample of organisers to establish the parameters of the research. This was followed by an industry wide Festivals and Events Survey, including telephone follow-ups to achieve the required response rate.
