Client: Florence County Progress, South Carolina

 

In June 2007, Florence County Progress South Carolina, commissioned Tourism Development International to prepare a Tourism Assessment and Plan for Florence County. As with the earlier Greenville Project (2006), a key objective was to advise on the optimum positioning of Florence having regard to their potential tourism assets and an evaluation of market opportunities.

Francis Marion (alias the ‘Swamp Fox’) was a leading figure in the US War of Independence. Many battles and historic events associated with him took place in Florence County. The proposed market positioning ‘Swamp Fox Country’ has been accepted by the client and key stakeholder groups in Florence.
