In March 2002 Tourism Development International was appointed to draw up a 25-year tourism masterplan for Guizhou province in South Western China. The overall objective of the tourism masterplan was to put in place a framework for the sustainable development of tourism in Guizhou. The masterplan (which also included a 5 year action plan), incorporated recommendations in relation to product development, regional tourism administration, SME development, visitor servicing and marketing. A five year marketing strategy incorporated costed proposals for the establishment of an internet portal and on-line reservation system.
