In June 2010, Tourism Development International [TDI] was appointed to prepare the ETC/UNWTO Handbook on Tourism Product Development. The Handbook, which sets out key principles and practical guidelines on tourism product development, was launched at the ETC-UNWTO Joint International Seminar on Tourism Product Development held in Dublin on 12-13 May 2011.
The purpose of the seminar was to provide an overview of the ETC & UNWTO Handbook on Tourism Product Development which will be published in the coming months. The handbook's authors, Peter Mac Nulty and Robert Cleverdon, presented the Fundamentals and Principles of Tourism Product Development, followed by an overview of the various steps in the tourism product development process. TDI representatives and other speakers also presented a number of case studies from around the world highlighting examples of best practice in tourism product development. Seminar presentations are available for download from the official website of the European Travel Commission.
