In March 2009, Failte Ireland and Shannon Development commissioned Tourism Development International to examine the feasibility of examining a Center Parcs type project in County Offaly. The study involved a detailed examination of consumer trends for self-catering accommodation and an estimate of the level of demand that would be required to support a Centre Parks type project in the Midlands.
