Tourism Development International was appointed by Umeras Community Development CLG to prepare a Strategic Pla for Umeras Peatlands.
The strategy is currently being advanced by Umeras CLG in partnership and unison with Kildare County Council, Bord na Móna and the local community.
“Umeras Bog has a serenity, nature and biodiversity which will be very attractive to visitors with nesting curlews and lapwing in its Western boundary, the bog an its hinterland are of significant conservation interest”
“The Barrow Blueway and and Ballykelly Mills are very significant local developments which have the potential to benefit Umeras and the towns of Monasterevin and Rathangan. Equally Umeras Peatlands can play an important role in helping to realise the potential of the Barrow Blueway as a tourism and recreational resource.”
This strategy is a County Kildare LEADER Partnership funded initiative.
